Classes of Membership

A) Advertisers: Any company that advertises in an out of home medium measured by TAB.

Benefits of membership:

  • Advertisers can assess which out of home media are available in a given market, the strengths and weaknesses of companies that compete in the market and determine the best ways to go about reaching media goals with out of home.

  • Since TAB is a not-for-profit organization, its future direction is decided by its membership. As users of out of home media, advertisers will have the opportunity to participate on committees of interest and assist in setting the future direction of the organization.

B) Advertising Agencies: Any company that creates, prepares or buys and/or places out of home advertising on behalf of advertiser clients. If you sell media you are in the wrong category.

Benefits of membership:

  • With membership in TAB, you will have the ability to objectively plan out of home buys prior to providing official notification to out of home companies.

  • Advertising Agencies can assess out of home advertising media with metrics defined by demographic characteristics of people who see advertising, in-market & total impressions, geographically sensitive reach & frequency, and the ability to represent the medium using the same language as other media.

  • When buying specific locations, you can compare all TAB Out of Home Ratings data, by panel, from out of home companies with ratings data provided by the TAB. If there is a discrepancy they can then address it with the out of home company thus providing a measure of accountability to the buying and selling process.

  • Since TAB is a not-for-profit association, its future direction is decided by its membership. As buyers of out of home media, agency members will have the opportunity to participate on committees of interest for their clients and assist in setting the future direction of the organization.

C) Associate Advertising Agencies: Any general agency company that plans across media types for advertiser clients. If you sell media you are in the wrong category.

Benefits of membership:

  • With membership in the TAB, you will have the access to market level data that gives you the ability to include out of home advertising into strategy levels of planning, set true media goals for out of home, and mix it with other media. Accessing this data can be done through third party supplier systems.

D) Out of Home Media Companies: Any company that operates an out of home plant(s). Current formats with TAB Out of Home Ratings include: posters, junior posters, bulletins, benches, transit shelters, phone kiosks, and other street furniture.

Benefits of membership:

  • For out of home media companies, membership in the TAB provides their sales force with essential information required by media buyers for conclusive buying decisions. The use of true media metrics based on audited data makes their presentations to all prospective buyers more relevant to their businesses, more credible and more useful for comparisons with competitive media.

  • TAB Out of Home Ratings can demonstrate delivery of out of home advertising to target specific demographic groups of people who see advertising, calculate true rating points using in-market impressions & standard market definitions, and provide geographically sensitive reach & frequency, all applicable to a commercial audience seeing advertising, not merely having the opportunity to do so.
